Sky: Maignan informed Milan of Chelsea move desire – the next steps

AC Milan will be without Mike Maignan next season, as the goalkeeper has informed the club that he wants to leave.

This evening, the Maignan saga has taken another turn. Though this time, it is not in Milan’s favour. According to Sky UK journalist Kaveh Solhekol, the Frenchman has informed Milan of his desire to move to Chelsea this summer, and, as a result, will not sign a renewal, as relayed by Milan News.

A meeting has been planned with Massimiliano Allegri for after the international break. However, it seems that this will not happen, with the Blues seeking a deal before the start of the Club World Cup, which is taking place in 10 days.

Considering the London outfit had already low-balled with their offer, it is exactly what the Rossoneri could not afford, as now all the power is in their hands. Though you would imagine the deal would still have to be finalised nearer the Diavolo’s asking price of around €30 million.

Things have taken a really quick turn with Maignan’s case. Only a few weeks ago, he was posting messages with captaincy logos displayed. Nevertheless, in this current situation, only Milan can be blamed, especially given that they were the ones to step back in negotiations.
