Jaxson Dart Is Off To Rough Start With Giants

The New York Giants entered this offseason with a big need for a quarterback.

They unsuccessfully tried to trade for Matthew Stafford and to entice Aaron Rodgers.

Eventually, they signed Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, and they took Jaxson Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Dart was a polarizing prospect coming out of Ole Miss, but as discouraging as this year’s quarterback class was, some still thought he could be a legitimate starter at the next level.

Unfortunately, it might take a while longer than some expected.

As reported by Connor Hughes of SNY on X, the young signal-caller didn’t look good at all in his latest OTA session:

“Jaxson Dart rough in the team period here. He had two pass breakups at the line, threw an interception, took a sack. 0/3 with INT the stat line. #Giants,” Hughes posted on X.

Of course, these sessions are often meaningless, both for good and bad.

Then again, it’s always nice to hear when a player is turning heads and developing his confidence, as that can take them a long way when it actually counts.

Even so, despite being the No. 25 selection, chances are that the Giants never intended to start Dart at any point this season.

They have two proven veterans to mentor and teach him the ropes while he spends one year on the sidelines, and they take care of business on the field.

Also, with head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen potentially being on the hot seat after yet another disappointing season, it’s not like they can afford to let him grow through his mistakes.

Hopefully, this was just a bad day, and he’ll bounce back and live up to the expectations.
