Why Giants’ Russell Wilson isn’t worried about sharing information with Jaxson Dart

The Giants signed 36-year-old quarterback Russell Wilson to a one-year contract in March.

A month later, they traded up to draft Jaxson Dart in Round 1.

Dart is their future. Wilson is not.

So it isn’t particularly difficult to envision how the 2025 season might unfold, with Dart replacing a healthy Wilson, if Wilson struggles.

But Wilson insisted Thursday — after the Giants’ sixth organized team activities practice — that he isn’t worried about that possibility.

And because of that, he has no problem sharing information with Dart.

“I always share,” Wilson said. “I’m a big believer in communicating out loud: ‘Here’s what I’m thinking.’ You don’t hold any information [back]. For me, when you have tremendous confidence in yourself, you have no problem sharing with others. That’s just what I’ve always believed.”

Right. OK. But Wilson surely understands how the NFL works. The Giants didn’t pick Dart 25th overall — while dealing away two third-round picks to move up nine spots for him — just to have him sit on the bench.

So how much pressure does Wilson feel to have success early, lest he wind up being replaced by the prized rookie?

“I just think about having success today,” Wilson said. “That’s always been my approach. I’m trying to be the best in the world. I think that for me, mentally, you have confidence in yourself and you have confidence in what you do, your process. I constantly stay the course and understand that if I’m the best me, I know how great that is. I always just stay within. I don’t really think about outside.”
