Report: David Moyes has now found his 'leading target' for Everton this summer, he'll cost £30m

Everton are hoping for a highly productive summer after finishing 13th in the Premier League table – and the club have now learned Ben Doak’s asking price.

Everton enjoyed a really good second half of 2024/25 under David Moyes and stayed up with ease in the end.

But Evertonians know that this is a huge summer for the club, with a lot of players leaving.

The Friedkin Group have a lot to do to ensure that Moyes is not left short heading into the club’s first ever season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Last term, it was quite apparent that Everton needed more quality in the final third.

Certainly, there were a lot of struggles under Sean Dyche, but things did pick up under Moyes.

With Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison both leaving after their loan spells, Everton need a new winger, and Ben Doak is of interest.

Doak has just enjoyed a good season out on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough.

He scored three goals and provided seven assists in 24 appearances for the club.

Liverpool will assess Doak in pre-season, but it’s not out of the question his exit could be sanctioned – and Everton are currently not prepared to go near Liverpool’s asking price.

According to TEAMtalk, that asking price is £30 million.

But Everton are only willing to pay £15 million at this stage, possibly moving up to £20 million.

But for the moment, it seems like the Toffees are nowhere near reaching an agreement to sign Doak, and this might be something that rumbles on over the summer.

Especially if Liverpool want to look at the player first.

Doak tipped to leave Liverpool

It will be fascinating to see if Everton come to the negotiating table over Doak.

Clearly at the moment, there is a big difference in valuation for both clubs, and it doesn’t seem any move will be happening any time soon.

But Doak could well be moving on this summer if Everton abandon their pursuit.

Crystal Palace are also keen on the player, as are Bournemouth.

Journalist David Lynch said of Doak and his Liverpool future recently: “100% there’s interest there and I think it would be a really good move for Doak to be honest.

“I would predict pretty comfortably that Everton won’t be in a relegation battle next season and he can also stay local.”

“There’s a lot that could appeal to him in that move.”
