Manchester United need to ensure that they get their recruitment spot on this summer
Manchester United simply must add some more quality to their attacking ranks this summer. They have the chance to bring in new faces over the next couple of months. The Red Devils have fallen way behind rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal over the past few years.
Ruben Amorim will be under pressure to get results in the next campaign. He was picked as their replacement for Erik ten Hag last November after impressing over his native Portugal with Sporting CP. However, he has struggled for consistency since his move to Old Trafford.
Manchester United considering Callum Hudson-Odoi move at Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is a name that has been linked with United recently. The attacker has been a key player for the Reds since joining them back in 2023. They could now face a battle to keep hold of him in the future amid expected attention from elsewhere.
According to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth on X, the Red Devils are keeping an eye on his situation at the City Ground. He could be seen by Amorim as someone who would boost his forward options. If he did make the switch to the North West, he would provide more competition and depth to their squad which would be useful.
Hudson-Odoi, who has played three times for England in the past, is still only 24 so has potential to grow and develop further in the future. His move to Nottingham Forest two years ago has paid off massively for him. It has enabled him to get some regular football under his belt and show what he can do.
The London-born man started his senior career at Chelsea and rose up through their academy ranks. He was a regular for the Blues at various different youth levels before going on to play 126 games. The forward scored 16 goals during his days at Stamford Bridge as a youngster, as well as being loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen to get some experience under his belt.
Manchester United should use Jadon Sancho as part of Nottingham Forest transfer deal
Jadon Sancho is facing an uncertain future at United. He spent this past term on loan at Chelsea but they have decided not to sign him on a permanent basis. Therefore, he will return to his parent club for pre-season now but it remains to be seen whether he will be sticking around.
The ex-Borussia Dortmund man has struggled to make an impact since his move to the Red Devils and has fallen out of favour under Amorim. Cutting ties with him soon would suit all parties involved. It would help him get his career back on track and would free up space and funds.
If United are to pursue a deal for Hudson-Odoi, they should use Sancho as part of a swap deal. That means that their rivals would get a player in return and neither team would be left short changed. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are preparing for life in the Europa League and will need more bodies.
Sancho, 25, could be perfect for Forest. He has played at the top level and has a point to prove in the game. They have worked wonders with players like Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga over recent years and may feel that they can get the best out of the former Manchester City academy man next as well.
It seems very unlikely that he will ever be able to break into United’s starting XI now, especially whilst Amorim is still at the helm. It is a shame that it hasn’t worked out for him and the Red Devils have lost a lot of money on him. Nevertheless, he still has plenty of time on his side to turn things around and make a proper name for himself.
Of course, Sancho’s wage demands could well make such a swap deal impractical. However, in reality, there are few teams who are likely to match the current current he’s being paid at United. An incentivised deal at Forest could be a fine way to meet in the middle, and the lure of rejuvenating his career with a club very much on the up could be enough to persuade him to make the move.
