Jack Wilshere is set to be interviewed for the manager’s role at Plymouth next week, sources have told Football Insider.
The former Arsenal midfielder was most recently in interim charge at Norwich, who opted to appoint Liam Manning, rather than give the 33-year-old a full-time role.
Argyle want to bring in a young head coach who can develop the young players in the squad, and they believe Wilshere could be the man for the job.
Miron Muslić informed the club that he was departing to join FC Schalke 04, after just four months in charge on the south coast, leaving the Pilgrims’ managerial position vacant.

Wilshere set for first managerial role
After coming through the Arsenal academy, Wilshere spent the majority of his playing days at the North London club.
During a career that was blighted by injury, the Englishman also had spells at Bournemouth and West Ham, before retiring in 2022 at the age of 30.

In October 2024, Wilshere began a first-team coaching role at Norwich, under head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup.
When Hoff Thorup was sacked in April, the former midfielder took over for the final two games of the Championship season, but was not kept on following the conclusion of the campaign.
If Wilshere were to be given the Plymouth job, then it would be his first permanent managerial role in senior football.

Plymouth planning for the future
Plymouth were raging that former manager Muslic opted to abandon ship and make the switch to Germany, despite offering his assurances to the owner that he was there for the long haul.
Argyle are preparing for a campaign back in League One, after finishing 23rd in the Championship last season, three points adrift of survival.
However, if they were to choose Wilshere, it would indicate that they are just as concerned about the long-term future of the club as they are with immediate promotion back to the second tier.
Plymouth have shown in the past that they are not afraid to take risks with their managerial appointments, bringing in Wayne Rooney last year, and they will hope that their gamble pays off on this occasion.
