Liverpool are in the hunt for some new faces this summer as they prepare for next season

Liverpool’s decision to turn to Arne Slot last year has turned out to be a masterstroke. The Dutchman was picked as their replacement for Jurgen Klopp just over 12 months ago. Prior to his move to England, he caught the eye in Holland at Feyenoord.

Slot has adapted well to life in the Premier League and guided the Reds to the title at the first time of asking in his first season. He will be looking to make it two league wins in a row in the next campaign. In the meantime, he has the chance to bring in some new faces over the next couple of months.

Liverpool should go all in for Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze this summer. The attacking midfielder is likely to attract interest from elsewhere and the Eagles could face a battle to keep hold of him. He has been a key player at Selhurst Park over recent times.

According to CaughtOffside, he is an option for the Reds as they look to bolster their ranks. If he made the switch to Anfield, he would give the champions another player to pick from going forward. He would also inject some more quality into their squad.

Eze, 26, had spells as a youngster in the academies of Arsenal, Fulham, Reading and Millwall before he finally found his feet at QPR. He broke into the R’s first-team after a loan spell away at Wycombe Wanderers. The Londoner then went on to become one of the Hoops’ most prized assets before his current club swooped in for him back in 2020.

Since joining Crystal Palace, he has adapted with ease to life in the top flight. The England international, who has made 10 caps for his country to date, has scored 39 goals in 166 games in all competitions so far, 14 of which came last term. He also scored the winner for Oliver Glasner’s side in their recent FA Cup final win over Manchester City at Wembley.

It has been well documented that Liverpool are working on a swoop for Florian Wirtz. The Bayern Leverkusen ace plays in a similar role to Eze. If they are serious about pipping rivals like Arsenal and Manchester City to top spot again, getting both would certainly be a statement of their intent.

Liverpool could use Harvey Elliott in Crystal Palace swap deal

There seems to be an air of inevitability that Crystal Palace will lose Eze in the near future. He will want to test himself at the next level and that is in the Champions League. Glasner’s men are keen to extend his stay but that will be a tall order.

Liverpool should try and end the saga about his uncertain situation by luring him up to the North West ahead of next season. They could use Harvey Elliott as part of a swap deal plus cash in an attempt to land his signature. That would suit both parties involved and would ensure that the Eagles aren’t left completely short changed.

Elliott, 22, must be kicking himself that teammate Mohamed Salah is sticking around for another couple of years. If the Egypt star had left, he could have made the step up to becoming a regular in their starting XI. He will now have to continue being a squad player, assuming he stays.

The ex-Fulham man needs to leave Liverpool for the sake of his career as he needs regular football. They can’t offer him that so a switch to Crystal Palace would be perfect for him. The London club are in the Europa League and he would be one of the first names on their team sheet.

Elliott joined the Reds back in 2019 as a youngster as one for the future. He was sent to Blackburn Rovers on a temporary basis to boost his development early on. The England youth international has since played 147 matches and has found the net on 15 occasions.
