Brazilian media deliver intriguing verdict on performance of Nottingham Forest bound Jair Cunha

Nottingham Forest are going to complete a spending spree in Brazil, with three Botafogo players set to sign for the club.

Igor Jesus is going to sign for Forest as the first summer recruit. The talisman will bolster the squad, with the Reds moving quickly to solve their depth problem at the top end of the pitch.

Nuno Espirito Santo looks as though he’s going to lose some players too. Danilo is in talks to leave Forest, whilst speculation remains over the future of Morgan Gibbs-White.

But, kicking things off with three Brazilian players feels like a positive move, with defenders Cuiabano and Jair Cunha also joining Jesus at Forest from Botafogo.

Last night, Cunha was on the pitch with Jesus as the Brazilian champions secured a 3-2 victory in their final game before the Club World Cup.

Cunha is a central defender who stands at 6ft 5in, and on Sunday, hours after he was first linked with Forest, he registered an assist during a 1-0 win over Santos.

Furthermore, Cunha helped get Neymar sent off, and it would appear that he might be a popular player at the City Ground if he does join Jesus at the club.

Last night, he was in action once again, and he was voted as the third-best player on the Botafogo team, with Globo praising his performance.

Of his performance, they said: “He shows excess confidence that can sometimes compromise the team, but overall, he had a confident performance.”

Cunha could be another Murillo for Forest

Given that they’re both Brazilian, the comparisons between the two players will be constant.

However, the fact that the media claimed his confidence sometimes compromised the team essentially details what Murillo did against Everton when he gave the ball away and allowed them to score in the dying embers of the game.

Forest are always looking for ways to improve the team and it would appear as though Cunha will be viewed as one for the future at the City Ground.

With Willy Boly leaving and doubts over Morato, there is every chance that Cunha gets a chance to prove himself next season and then it’ll be up to him to grasp any opportunity that comes his way.
