The Daily Mail has revealed that Cherki, who Thierry Henry called “extraordinary” is keen to complete a move to the Etihad Stadium before Tuesday’s deadline for the Club World Cup as the transfer window has been opened for teams in the competition.

Cherki has agreed personal terms with Manchester City and he would be determined to sign for them in time for the competition.
With Reijnders and Ait-Nouri looking set to partake at the Club World Cup, City would perhaps also like the Lyon midfielder to familiarise himself with his teammates, Pep Guardiola and England as soon as possible.
Khaldoon Al-Mubarak states that the club’s goal is that all their signings are completed before the Club World Cup begins, and in saying so, he may have referred to Cherki during his declaration.
The Manchester City chairman told the club’s in-house media: “I can tell you today, we have clearly identified who exactly are the targets, in what positions, and we have our clear number one option, our clear number two option.”
“Our objective is to try to be ready with the new squad for the Club World Cup.”
