Ineos have changed the executive structure at Manchester United ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer transfer window.
Since the Ineos takeover, there have been plenty of changes at boardroom level at Manchester United.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe was eager to implement an elite-level footballing structure at Old Trafford after United went years with a boardroom that viewed the club as commercial first.
Ineos pursued Dan Ashworth as their top sporting director target, but he lasted just five months at the club before being sacked.
Now, United have confirmed that Sir Dave Brailsford has stepped down from his role to return to a senior role in Ineos’ sport management. There have been some noticeable changes behind the scenes that fans will want to know about.

Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell take charge of Man United
After Ashworth’s exit, it was confirmed that Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell were given more responsibility when it comes to United’s football business.
Initially joining on a short-term deal, in February United announced that Vivell had become the director of recruitment on a full-time basis.
Now, Jason Wilcox has stepped up to a sporting director role, taking the job title previously owned by Ashworth.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has confirmed that both Wilcox and Christopher Vivell now have key roles and will be “running the football show” at Old Trafford from now on.
Both Wilcox and Vivell will work closely with Ruben Amorim to plot United’s summer business, while they will all report to Berrada as the club’s CEO.
Ruben Amorim is working well with Man United hierarchy
Despite the underwhelming results of the 2024/25 campaign, Ratcliffe remains a big fan of Amorim and he has rallied behind the Portuguese head coach to deliver success next season.
In his interviews, Amorim has spoken highly of Ineos and the support he receives, and it seems he has been getting on well with Wilcox in particular.
Amorim thanked Wilcox for signing Ayden Heaven, suggesting it is exactly the kind of transfer deals that United should be chasing.
“Jason Wilcox is doing a great job bringing in players like this to the club,” Amorim said about United’s new sporting director.

Berrada has revealed that Amorim has a good relationship with Wilcox and they will work very closely to strengthen United’s squad this summer.
It seems that the window was planned well in advance with United already confirming Matheus Cunha as the first summer signing and now a bid has been submitted for Bryan Mbeumo.
