Matt LaFleur Raves About Packers WR In OTAs

When the Green Bay Packers took Romeo Doubs in the fourth round of the NFL Draft, not many people were impressed.

Christian Watson was supposed to be the team’s star, and for a while, it seemed like he was on track to do so.

Unfortunately, injuries always got in the way, and Doubs kept his head down and climbed his way up the ladder.

Then, just when it seemed like Doubs was going to step up as Jordan Love’s primary target, he had to settle for a lesser role and share touches with the team’s plethora of pass-catchers.

Doubs publicly complained about his lack of involvement in the offense, to the point where he was even suspended.

Notably, that’s why this season will be crucial for him to prove that he can be the team’s go-to guy.

With that in mind, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur gushed about his talented wideout, praising him for all the hard work he’s done in the gym this offseason and how sharp he’s looked at OTAs:

“[Romeo Doubs] looks great out there,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said after Tuesday’s OTA practice. “I don’t know if you guys can tell a difference in his physique, he does look like a specimen out there. But he does, he does a great job.”

The Packers took Matthew Golden to snap their infamous streak of not taking a wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft.

That speaks volumes about their level of concern for Watson’s long-term health.

But even if Golden steps up as the primary pass-catcher, there should be plenty of opportunities for Doubs as the team’s de facto WR2.

The Packers have one of the most stacked offenses in the game, and it won’t be easy to stand out from the rest of the pack, not even for a player like Doubs.
