Leeds United hit with Igor Paixao, Arsenal reality despite player's Elland Road stance - The…

Leeds United are seen as a potentially viable destination for Feyenoord star Igor Paixao this summer, but the Brazilian is likely to have more desirable suitors, possibly including Arsenal.

The Whites have a winger on their radar this summer after seeing crucial loan signing Manor Solomon’s loan come to a conclusion after he sealed the league title at Home Park.

Some fans might want Solomon back on a permanent deal, and he’s done everything he can to justify that as a viable solution, but now Leeds are in the Premier League, they appear to be looking at high calibre options.

The Brazilian has enjoyed another superb season in the Netherlands with 18 goals and 19 assists in all competitions, seeing his stock continue to grow.

Adding further fuel to the speculation was insight from LeedsLive that the player himself would be open to joining at Elland Road, should the offer be a viable one.

Feyenoord are claimed to be holding out for a fee in the region of €40million (£34million) to let the winger leave, with Brighton, Napoli and Marseille all also named.

Blow for Leeds United with Arsenal joining Igor Paixao pursuit

As much as Leeds will fancy their chances of landing big signings this summer to start battling for survival and a regular spot in the Premier League, Paixao comes with notable interest.

The Times are now reporting that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are the latest side to be weighing up a move for the 24-year-old.

The Gunners are clearly looking to add more firepower to their side after another trophy-less campaign, and Paixao features as a cheaper alternative on their shortlist alongside Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams.

Sad reality for Leeds United with high-profile target wanted by bigger clubs

There is an inevitability about proposed signings like Paixao, in that he’s one to elevate Leeds’ side drastically, but he’s good enough to be linked with these clubs playing in Europe.

Arsenal are going to need a left-winger this summer and Paixao is better than what they have currently, so it stands to reason why they’d be considering him.

That’s the reality for Leeds, though, that while we want to be ambitious in the transfer market, there are much bigger fish with the same transfer priorities and they can stump up the money.
