The New York Knicks made it to the Eastern Conference Finals this year, a result that not many predicted heading into the year.
They weren’t necessarily expected to compete at the same level as teams like the Boston Celtics or Milwaukee Bucks, but their new additions helped get them where they wanted to go.
However, they fell short of the NBA Finals, their ultimate goal, which has led to some tough conversations and potential offseason moves.
The team quickly moved on from head coach Tom Thibodeau, wanting someone else to lead the team for the 2025-2026 season.
Now, there are talks that the team could move on from one of their newest additions, at least, according to analyst Nick Wright.
Wright believes that the Knicks should move on from Karl-Anthony Towns, making a trade with the Phoenix Suns to acquire Kevin Durant.
Nick Wright thinks New York should offer Karl-Anthony Towns in exchange for Kevin Durant
“I think if you offered KAT for Durant the Suns would say yes… if they made that trade I think they’d be the favorites in the East.”

Whether Durant is the missing piece for the Knicks remains to be seen, but if they couldn’t make the Finals with their current roster, they might have to think about some new solutions.
A new head coach could certainly help, but the jury is still out on what the team’s biggest problem was.
For now, fans are just hoping the team can be competitive again next year.
Durant might be past his prime in some people’s eyes, but the Knicks might just be able to unlock him and turn him back into one of the greatest players in the league if they play their cards right.
