Viktor Gyokeres Sporting CP
Manchester United are working hard to reinforce the squad ahead of the next season. Ruben Amorim needs players who would suit the project he is trying to build and the Red Devils have already made their first signing – Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
The Brazilian attacker is coming to Man Utd after a sensational season at Wolves, and his playstyle perfectly suits one of the three attacking roles in Ruben Amorim’s setup. However, as they say, one swallow doesn’t make a summer.

One other attacker that Man Utd are trying to agree a deal for this summer is Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. Now, as per Give Me Sport, the Red Devils have also made contact to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.
The report mentions that Man Utd see Gyokeres’ knowledge of Amorim’s demands as a major advantage in their pursuit. The player has previously played under the Portuguese tactician at Sporting CP and his signing could be game-changing.
Gyokeres is said to be available for a fee of around £59million this summer. The 27-year-old has had a brilliant couple of seasons in Portugal. In 52 games across all competitions, he has scored 54 goals and provided 13 assists.
One of Man Utd’s biggest issues this season has been a lack of goals from their strikers. Rasmus Hojlund has flattered to deceive and Joshua Zirkzee has shown that he is much better as a creator than as the goal-scoring striker.
Signing someone like Gyokeres would guarantee Man Utd a player who knows where the back of the net is.
Although a step up to the Premier League could prove to be a challenge, the Swedish marksman has shown enough raw potential to get behind.
It remains to be seen if Man Utd indeed hold an advantage to convince Gyokeres to come to Old Trafford, especially without being able to offer Champions League football. Let’s wait and see how this transfer saga plays out.
