Arsenal are not only looking to strengthen their squad this summer, but they’ve also been busy bolstering their backroom team.
Andrea Berta joined Arsenal earlier this year as their new sporting director, replacing the departing Edu in March 2025.
Now, Arsenal are said to be in “advanced talks” with former Juventus head of scouting and Granada director Matteo Tognozzi.
Fabrizio Romano posted the relevant update on X, explaining how Tognozzi would be part of the team working under Berta at Arsenal.
Landing Tognozzi could well see Arsenal take a step closer to signing a “spectacular” attacking talent who has been on their radar for some months.

Matteo Tognozzi could help Arsenal sign Kenan Yildiz
Tognozzi worked as a scout at Juventus between 2017 and 2023, and is credited with the signings of a number of superb young talents during that time.
‘He is accredited with the signings of some of the best wonderkids who joined the club during that time span,’ Juvefc.com wrote earlier this month.
‘Including Matias Soule, Dean Huijsen, and most importantly, Kenan Yildiz who is now considered one of the cornerstones of the current Juventus project.’
The report claimed that Juve were closing in on appointing Tognozzi as their new sporting director, but it looks as though he could soon be Arsenal-bound.
Having Tognozzi at Arsenal could potentially help the Gunners land Yildiz, who joined Juve after being scouted by the Italian.

What’s the situation with Kenan Yildiz at Juventus?
Back in April, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey confirmed that Arsenal were among the Premier League clubs who had enquired about Yildiz.
At the time, Yildiz was believed to have become unsettled – he is seen as a central player, but spent a lot of time under Thiago Motta playing on the wing.

However, with Igor Tudor now at the helm, Juve are said to be planning to build their team around Yildiz, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Juve reportedly value Yildiz at €90million (£76million) but they see him as especially important, so it would be hard for Arsenal to sign him – but not impossible.
Alessandro Del Piero previously praised Yildiz, hailing his “very precise and strong” shots and deeming him capable of “spectacular” goals, as per Il Bianconero.
