Scotland captain Andy Robertson has spoken about his admiration for Celtic’s greatest achievement, opening the door to a possible return to the club where he started his career.
The 31-year-old was part of Celtic’s youth setup before being let go in 2009. Since then, he’s gone on to enjoy a top-level career, winning the Champions League and two Premier League titles with Liverpool.

But with a year left on his current deal and Liverpool manager Arne Slot linked with a move for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, Robertson’s future is now uncertain.
That uncertainty has sparked talk of a potential move back to Celtic, who may be in the market for a new left-back. Greg Taylor hasn’t signed a new contract and will be free to leave for nothing next month. Celtic are looking at replacements, and Robertson’s name has naturally come up.
He said: (BBC Sport’s Quickfire Kids), “To have played in, I would have loved to have played with the Lisbon Lions when they won the European Cup.”
With Taylor’s future up in the air and Robertson possibly on the move, the option is there for an emotional return. Celtic would get a proven player in a key position, while Robertson would get the chance to play for the club he supported as a boy.
There’s also the chance of Champions League football at the Hoops next season, if Celtic can get through the final qualifying round, with Brendan Rodgers aiming to build a side capable of competing in Europe. The experience and leadership of someone like Robertson could be key in lifting the squad to another level.

Whether a deal is affordable remains to be seen. However, at 31, it would likely be an emotional move rather than one motivated by money, as seen with Kieran Tierney reportedly taking a wage cut to return.
The appeal of coming home to finish his career in green and white may be a strong pull. If Celtic can find a way to make it happen, it could become one of the most significant moves of the summer.
