Steelers Breaking News As Aaron Rodgers 'Finally' Signs One-Year Contract

Aaron Rodgers is ... in.

The Pittsburgh Steelers just rid themselves of a headache when on Thursday their next starting quarterback sealed the the deal on a one-year contract than an NFL source has suggested to us might be valued in the $30 million range.

Added another source close to the situation: "Finally.''

It's been months since Russell Wilson up and left for the New York Giants and since Justin Fields up and left for the New York Jets - Rodgers' previous stop - to seemingly pave the way for Rodgers to Pittsburgh.

It's also been a long wait since owner Art Rooney II said the future Hall of Famer Rodgers "wants to come here" and that "we may get word soon."

"Soon'' just arrived.

Some have been speculating that Rodgers was for some reason waiting for NFL schedules to be released. Or that he just didn't want to come to OTAs. Or - as the four-time MVP himself has suggested - it was all about personal relationships ... new romance and people in his "inner circle'' who are dealing with cancer.

Others thought he's already made up his mind to retire at 41.

Rodgers insisted he wasn't "holding the Steelers hostage'' ... but he indeed was, as without him, they had veterans Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson and sixth-round rookie Will Howard on the depth chart.

We do know that Rodgers has stayed in relatively constant contact with coach Mike Tomlin.

And now they'll work together.

What we don't know is ... can Rodgers still play?

He was wildly mediocre last year with the Jets as he "led'' them to a 5-12 record.

Now he comes to a playoff team with the expectation that he'll make the Steelers better ... a process that begins when he "finally'' shows up.
