Mohammed Kudus could be set to leave West Ham this summer.

The Ghanaian winger struggled this season, notching just five goals and three assists in the Premier League.

That has not stopped the 24-year-old from being linked with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea in the transfer window.

The Blues have reportedly made an offer for the Hammers star, with Robert Sanchez potentially coming the other way.

West Ham will struggle to keep hold of Kudus

The London Stadium outfit will face a tough task to keep hold of the former Ajax man, with Champions League clubs sniffing around.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Sky Sports‘ Kaveh Solhekol (5 June) claims that he is almost guaranteed to leave the Irons this summer.

He said: “He will almost certainly leave West Ham this summer. West Ham need to bring money in to make funds available to Potter to refresh his squad.

“Kudus cost £38m. I have been trying to find out what West Ham value him at, but they have a figure, but will not say. I think that figure is double what they paid. He is still only 24.

“I think he will end up moving to a Champions League club. I think he is open to moving, he feels he needs a fresh start, there is a lot of interest in Kudus, but people are trying to negotiate a good price and put players into the deal.

“It is complicated, but I was just on the phone to somebody who said it would become much clearer in the next couple of weeks.”

Kudus exit makes sense for West Ham

Kudus has failed to hit the heights that were expected of him in his sophomore season in East London after a terrific maiden campaign.

The Ghana ace notched 14 goal contributions in his first season in E20 but he has struggled to try and match those figures in a dismal personal campaign.

The Hammers may be forced to accept less than the £85million release clause in his contract, as it does not activate until July, and they need to get additions through the door quickly so they can bed in properly.

Potter‘s side needs a significant number of signings, and selling Kudus for a big fee could help the former Brighton man to revamp his squad and get the players in for pre-season and accustomed to his tactical approach quicker.

The Irons are believed to be in a sell-to-buy situation after a disastrous window last summer under Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten, and allowing the underwhelming ex-Nordsjaelland star to depart would give them some financial flexibility.

David Sullivan must seriously consider sanctioning an exit, as it would ultimately be the best solution for all parties on this occasion.

Kudus does not seem to be enjoying his football under Potter, and the ex-Chelsea man could do with the funds from his sale to add a better option to his arsenal next season.
