Arsenal are poised for a blockbuster move in the summer 2025 transfer window, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes emerging as their top winger target.

A June 5, 2025, post from @HandofArsenal on X revealed that Arsenal’s recruitment team unanimously views the 24-year-old Brazilian as the key to unlocking major silverware, with talks ongoing to secure his signature.

This follows reports of Arsenal’s serious interest, with initial discussions held with Rodrygo’s representatives, driven by his frustration at Real Madrid after Kylian Mbappé’s arrival reduced his role.

Rodrygo, contracted until 2028, has expressed discontent at playing out of position, preferring the left wing where Arsenal seek to upgrade over Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

His versatility—capable of playing across the front line—makes him an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s system, complementing Bukayo Saka’s right-wing dominance. Despite a €100 million (£84m) valuation, Rodrygo’s €10 million net annual wage demands, equivalent to £300,000 per week, could complicate negotiations.

Real Madrid’s new manager, Xabi Alonso, is set to meet Rodrygo to clarify his role, but the club is open to a sale if the offer meets their price.

Rodrygo’s 2024/25 season yielded 13 goals and 10 assists in 50 appearances, though his form dipped, with only one goal since January. His desire for a starring role, coupled with Arsenal’s need for firepower after a trophyless season, fuels the transfer speculation.

Posts on X from May 2025 highlighted Arsenal’s early interest, with La SER noting Rodrygo’s agents contacted the Gunners, who responded eagerly. However, competition from Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City, alongside Real Madrid’s potential interest in Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly, adds complexity.

At 24, Rodrygo’s youth, Champions League pedigree, and dynamic skill set make him a statement signing for Arsenal’s title ambitions. While no formal offer has been tabled, Arsenal’s proactive approach signals intent to challenge for Premier League and European glory.
