NFL's First Post After Aaron Rodgers Announces Plan to Sign with Historic Franchise

The drama between the Pittsburgh Steelers and future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers is officially over. It has now been reported that he will sign with the Steelers and become their new starting quarterback for the 2025 NFL season.

All offseason long, the talks between the team and Rodgers have been the most talked about storyline in the NFL. Now, all the focus can switch to just how good Rodgers can help Pittsburgh become.

Last season with the New York Jets in his first season since tearing his Achilles in 2023, Rodgers completed 63% of his pass attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also played in all 17 regular season games.

Those numbers would be a huge upgrade from what the Steelers have had under center.

Following the news of Rodgers officially signing with Pittsburgh, the NFL has made a post on social media. The league shared intriguing statistics on their NFL Plus account.

In that post, they shard that since the 2022 season, Rodgers has thrown 54 passing touchdowns despite missing all but one possession of the 2023 season. The Steelers have only thrown 46 passing touchdowns as a team in that time period.

Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL. At 41 years old, he may not be the player that he was in his prime, but he still makes Pittsburgh a much more dangerous contender.

Looking ahead to the 2025 NFL season, Rodgers and the Steelers will kick things off with a Sept. 7 matchup on the road against the Jets. Rodgers will have a chance to get some revenge on his old team, while Justin Fields will look to do the same on the other side of the field.

There are sure to be many more discussions and a lot of speculation about how the Rodgers and Pittsburgh marriage will go between now and then.
