Manchester United’s new 2025/26 third kit ‘leaked’ with stunning Nineties throwback design

Details of Manchester United’s new third kit appear to have been revealed online.

Details of Manchester United’s brand new third kit for the forthcoming 2025/26 Premier League season appear to have emerged via online ‘leaks’ – and they suggest that it might well be the club’s best-looking jersey next year.

Footy Headlines have turned up details of the alleged new design alongside mock-ups of what the kit will look like when it’s released, which is expected to be in August or September.

None of the club’s kits for the coming campaign have been officially launched as of yet, but previous leaks have also revealed details of the club’s home, away and pre-match kits ahead of their release.

New Manchester United third kit inspired by Nineties throwback

Assuming the leaked details prove to be accurate, then kit manufacturer Adidas have decided to base their new third kit on a Nineties throwback – specifically, the dark grey shirt worn between 1993 and 1995.

Just like that kit, the new shirt appears to have blue and yellow trim on the collar and shirt sleeves, but this time also three yellow bands across the shoulders in Adidas’ trademark style. Their alternate trefoil logo also adorns the shirt, picked out in yellow along with Manchester United’s crest.

In a further similarity to the original design, the new shirt has stripes of two tones of grey – this time around, the lighter shaded stripes also feature a recurring pattern featuring the devil on the club’s famous badge. The original shirt, worn during a happier time during which the club won the 1993/94 Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson, was designed by former kit manufacturers Umbro, but that hasn’t prevented Adidas from taking a little inspiration from their peers.

Attractive new kit warmly received by fans

Manchester United may have struggled on the pitch over the course of the last year, but whether their fortunes change or not after the summer they seem set to look pretty sharp in the 2025/26 campaign.

Fans on the website Football Kit Archive have awarded the new shirt a four-star rating so far after more than 500 votes, and the reaction on social media has been largely positive following the release of the digitally-rendered images from Footy Headlines - certainly rather more positive than the reception earned by cross-city rivals Manchester City’s new third kit, which seems set to go down as one of football’s great fashion disasters.

The new grey, yellow and blue kit is expected to be worn alongside a classic red home kit with black trim and a simple, clean white away shirt with purple trim and detailing.

However nice the players look under Ruben Amorim’s command next season, however, most supporters will perhaps be rather more concerned with ensuring that they have the right people inside the shirts – and the club seem set for a busy summer, with Matheus Cunha on his way and plenty of other players linked with a move to Old Trafford as the club work to turn the ship around after a dismal 2024/25 season.
