Arsenal could do bargain £5m Chelsea deal as they plot blockbuster Rodrygo transfer

Arsenal are reportedly eyeing up a £5million swoop for a forgotten Chelsea star, as Mikel Arteta and co. get to work on their summer transfer dealings. The Gunners are being tipped to have a blockbuster transfer window, as they look to bridge the gap from second in the Premier League table to first.

Among the areas Arsenal are said to be exploring is the goalkeeper department, as they go in search of a back-up to David Raya. Remarkably, Kepa Arrizabalaga has emerged as a potential target, with the Spanish shot-stopper said to be available for £5m.

Kepa, who originally joined Chelsea for a world-record £72m fee in 2018, spent the previous campaign on loan at Bournemouth. His time with the Cherries has since come to an end, with the Gunners rumoured to be eyeing up a surprise move.

He’s just one of the several names being linked to an Emirates Stadium move this summer, with Real Madrid star Rodrygo also mooted, as per Sky Sports. Arsenal are said to be drawing up a shortlist of potential attacking additions, particularly in the left-wing position, with Rodrygo high up on the list.

The Brazil international is reportedly set to sit down with new Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso to discuss his future in the Spanish capital. Despite having three years remaining on his deal with Los Blancos, there has been plenty of noise surrounding a transfer away from the record European champions.

Rodrygo isn’t alone in the list of left-sided forward options though, with Nico Williams, Leroy Sane, and Morgan Rogers all being monitored. It’s claimed that Arsenal are looking for a player who can come into the side and add quality immediately, as they go in search of a first Premier League title since 2004.

And then there’s the search for a striker. The same outlet claim Arsenal have drawn up a three-man shortlist, which includes Newcastle's Alexander Isak, Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. Hopes of luring Isak out of Newcastle remain slim, while Arsenal could face competition for Gyokeres from Manchester United, even though the Red Devils aren’t involved in next season’s Champions League.

The transfer window is open for club’s to conduct business, although it will shut for a short while on 10 June ahead of the Club World Cup. Later this month, it will open back up again and remain that way until 1 September.
