News & Notes: Jalyn Armour-Davis Gets Reps at Safety as Ravens Explore Different Combinations

Jalyn Armour-Davis is a fourth-year cornerback but has been taking some reps at safety during OTAs, as he did during Thursday's practice.

Moving Armour-Davis to safety in certain packages gives the Ravens another defensive wrinkle to explore.

"You want to get your best 11 guys on the field," Defensive Coordinator Zach Orr said. "In the secondary, most of the time you're going to have at least five DBs on the field, sometimes six, maybe seven.

"You don't want to limit yourself or a player just because 'Well, he's only a corner.' We force our guys to kind of learn everything, then we start throwing them out there to see if they can pick it up and execute at a high level."

Orr complimented Armour-Davis for adjusting quickly.

"Jalyn, he might be the smartest DB in the room, because he knows all the positions," Orr said. "He's just one of the guys we're starting to do that with. You'll start seeing more guys do that as we get going."
