Scotto: Christie, LaRavia “have a very good relationship”

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype joined The Allen Stiles Show to discuss his recent sitdown with Sacramento Kings’ impending free agent Jake LaRavia, their complicated offseason ahead, and more.

Scotto released an interview article with LaRavia on Thursday, who spoke about his good relationship with head coach Doug Christie, having the most efficient season of his career, and more.

“From all my conversations with people, Doug Christie enjoys the type of player that Jake LaRavia is and the two of them have a very good relationship,” Scotto told Stiles.

“I think if it’s similar money, I would give the edge to Sacramento because of that relationship.”

Sacramento is limited to paying LaRavia a starting salary of roughly $5.1 million, inheriting that restriction from the Memphis Grizzlies, who declined the option on his rookie deal player option.

Scotto and Stiles also dove into Sacramento’s potential routes with their ‘Big 3’ of Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan.

New Sacramento Kings general manager Scott Perry is expected to have a busy first offseason. There could be plenty of movement across the roster, but there’s no clearer need than their current hole at point guard.

Mentioned by Perry and Domantas Sabonis after the season ended, it’s a position that the Kings unquestionably will be looking to fill. Whether that means pursuing a star-caliber starter or a cheaper facilitator is to be seen.

Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype echoed that idea in his latest reporting, along with mentioning a potential target.

Tyus Jones (29) spent last season with the Phoenix Suns, where he averaged 10.2 points, 5.3 assists, and 2.4 rebounds on 44.8 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from three in 26.8 minutes per game.
