Arsenal are looking to sign a deputy goalkeeper this summer, with current backup Neto set to return to AFC Bournemouth once his loan ends. And while the Gunners have been linked for the longest time to Joan García, it would appear that the Espanyol netminder is upgrading locally to Barcelona.
But in his place could come yet another Bournemouth-man, with Sky Italia reporting that the Gunners are considering a potential deal for forever Chelsea goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, who somehow still has a year left on his contract with us.
While Chelsea have had great success in fleecing Arsenal over the years, in this instance they could be getting a pretty good deal were they to trigger Kepa’s £5m release clause. The World’s Most Expensive Goalkeeper™ had a productive loan spell at Bournemouth last season, conceding 39 goals in 31 league appearances, keeping 8 clean sheets, and maintaining a save percentage of 73.9%.
Given that Jorginho and Raheem Sterling are both leaving this summer, Kepa would be a great way to maintain our quota of Chelsea washouts at the Emirates.
