Manchester United are working hard to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer.
The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, and he definitely makes Ruben Amorim’s side stronger.
The Portuguese boss needs more help in attack, which is why Manchester United are still keen to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.
The focus right now, however, is on Mbeumo, but Jamie O’Hara doesn’t seem too happy with what he has just heard about the Brentford star.
Jamie O’Hara reacts to Bryan Mbeumo’s wage demands to join Manchester United
A number of clubs in the Premier League have had an interest in signing Bryan Mbeumo.
The Cameroon international has been fantastic for Brentford over the last two years and is due a move to a bigger club this summer.
TBR Football exclusively revealed that Mbeumo and Manchester United have a broad agreement on personal terms, and talks are ongoing between the two clubs over a fee.
On talkSPORT, Alex Crook claimed that the attacker is demanding £250,000-a-week wages to move to Old Trafford and United are willing to pay that figure.
That is a lot of money, and O’Hara thinks United should ‘put him back in his place’ for making such a high demand.
He said: “£250,000-a-week? That’s quite steep, isn’t it? From Brentford!
“I’ll be rocking up and saying, ‘I’m at Brentford and by the way, if you want me, I want £250,000-a-week’.
“Yeah, of course (you’ve got to admire his ambition), but then you just put him back in his place a little bit, don’t you? He’s probably on £60-70,000 a week at Brentford.”
Where would Bryan Mbeumo rank among Manchester United’s top earners if his demands are met
Manchester United have been working hard to reduce their wage bill since Sir Jim Ratcliffe took charge of the club.
However, they still pay big money to many of their players, and Mbeumo will be one of them if his £250,000-a-week wage demands are met.
Manchester United player Wages
Casemiro £350,000-a-week
Marcus Rashford £300,000-a-week
Bruno Fernandes £300,000-a-week
Bryan Mbeumo* £250,000-a-week
Mason Mount £250,000-a-week
Jadon Sancho £250,000-a-week
*If Bryan Mbeumo joins Manchester United on those wages
Only three players on Manchester United’s books will earn more than Mbeumo if the Red Devils meet his demands this summer.
Two of those – Marcus Rashford and Casemiro – could be pushed out the door, which means there is a big chance that Mbeumo will become United’s second-best-paid player.
