Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal has been named La Liga’s Under-23 Player of the Season for the 2024-25 campaign.
It’s absolutely no surprise at all to see the 17-year-old finish on top of the pile. He enjoyed a stellar campaign and played a crucial role in Barca’s La Liga triumph.
Yamal scored nine times and contributed 13 assists in 35 La Liga matches for Barcelona. Indeed he finished the campaign with the most assists in Spain’s top flight.
Barcelona’s newest superstar beat off competition from team-mate Pedri, Real Madrid duo Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler, Valencia’s Diego Lopez, Las Palmas star Alberto Moleiro and Fabio Silva to the prize.
It’s been a memorable campaign for Yamal and one that saw him commit his future to Barcelona until 2031 after winning the double.
There could be more individual prizes to come in the near future. Yamal is being tipped to win the Ballon d’Or later this year but faces competition from team-mates Raphinha and Pedri.
