Report: Newcastle boost amid acceptance £85m target could be sold now

Newcastle United could get a chance to sign West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus during this summer’s transfer window.

Kudus is just one of the names linked with a move to Newcastle United as the club look to strengthen their attacking options.

Indeed, Newcastle want to sign a new forward this summer but have so far struggled to do so. Bryan Mbeumo looks set to join Manchester United after they landed Matheus Cunha, while Liam Delap chose Chelsea over Newcastle.

Newcastle have scouted Kudus, who is also attracting interest from Chelsea. While the Irons want to keep him, they could make the tough decision to sell.

West Ham would be prepared to sell Mohammed Kudus

According to The London Standard, the Hammers accept that selling the Ghana international would bring in much-needed funds for their own rebuild under Graham Potter.

It could be something of a fire sale at the London Stadium, with the report adding that West Ham consider only Jarrod Bowen to be unsellable this summer.

Chelsea have made an approach for Kudus, but they are not the only club to have done so.

The 24-year-old has a release clause worth £85million in his contract at West Ham, though it is only active for the first 10 days of July.

Eddie Howe values versatile players at Newcastle, and it’s a trait Kudus seems to have in abundance.

The 2024-25 season, however, proved difficult for him. He scored five goals while registering three assists in 32 Premier League games, but his campaign was interrupted by a high-profile red card he was shown against Tottenham in October. During the 2023/24 season, his attacking output was much higher.

Though certainly a talent, there’s a risk in signing him, particularly if it were to come at such huge expense.
