Victor Osimhen transfer to Al-Hilal'about to collapse', Man Utd discover main competitor for 37 goal striker

Manchester United have been handed a potential boost in the race to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

After a long, dire season for Manchester United, Ruben Amorim is looking to continue building his squad for future success.

United will go into the 2025/26 season after finishing 15th in the Premier League. The Red Devils also lost the Europa League final, meaning there will be no European football.

That also means Amorim will have fewer midweek fixtures to give him more time with United’s first team to implement his preferred style and tactics.

One of the biggest issues Amorim will be hoping to address is United’s struggles in front of goal, which have existed for over two seasons – even before Rasmus Hojlund joined the club from Atalanta.

United have confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha, and they’re now looking to add Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo to the mix. Ineos are also planning to add a striker to the equation after missing out on Liam Delap, who has left Ipswich Town for Chelsea.

As United’s search for a striker continues, Ineos will be monitoring the market with a watchful eye over multiple targets to see if any opportunity arises.

Victor Osimhen move to Al-Hilal collapses

Many were convinced that Victor Osimhen would leave Napoli last summer, but a permanent deal never materialised, so he joined Galatasaray on loan.

More United News

Osimhen scored 37 goals during his season on loan at Galatasaray and won the Turkish league title.

It is understood that Osimhen has no future under Antonio Conte at Napoli, therefore, he will be looking for a new permanent home this summer.

Most observers of the beautiful game were under the impression Osimhen would leave Europe for the Saudi Pro League.

However, that no longer appears to be the case, potentially opening the door for United to sign one of Europe’s best goalscorers.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen’s deal with Al-Hilal is about to collapse as they have been unable to reach an agreement with the player.

Romano adds that Galatasaray have entered the race to sign Osimhen on a permanent deal.

That essentially means Osimhen could turn down advances from Saudi Arabia to remain in Europe. They were unable to convince him with money, and that may persuade United to sit down and reevaluate their stance on signing the Nigerian international.

Osimhen isn’t the only player to turn down Al-Hilal this week after United captain Bruno Fernandes rejected a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League outfit.

The lure of Champions League may go against Man Utd

It turns out Osimhen wants to stay in Europe rather than take his career to the Middle East, like many others have done before him.

The only benefit Osimhen gets from joining Galatasaray on a permanent deal is that they have secured Champions League football for next season.

Galatasaray are unlikely to get very far in the Champions League, but the 26-year-old can also be excused for prioritising his career and wanting to play in the biggest competitions.

United won’t have any European football but a good summer could still set the Red Devils up for a strong campaign domestically.
