NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal shared his surprise following the dramatic victory, admitting he expected a much different outcome.
"I did not expect this. I thought it should’ve been a blowout," Shaq said postgame on NBA TV.
"Indiana didn’t play well at all. I thought even though Tyrese (Haliburton) was 6-for-13, he was a little too passive for me. But I like people who step up to the challenge."
Shaq also credited key Pacers contributors for their resilience.
"Obi Toppin played great, Nembhard hit a big step-back three, and they just kept fighting. They definitely stole one," he added.
Game 2 between the Pacers and Thunder will be played on Sunday in Oklahoma City.
