Man United have been dealt a big transfer blow as their £50m target is heading for a medical with Man City.
Man City Hijack Man United Move for Ait-Nouri
Manchester Utd’s transfer hopes have again taken a major hit this June. Wolves star Rayan Ait-Nouri is now heading to Manchester City instead. The Red Devils had shown strong interest in the full-back, but City moved in quickly.
As per reports, Ait- Nouri will be having a medical with City on Friday, June 6. He will be released from the Algeria national team camp for the same. Due to that, he was unable to participate in Algeria’s friendly game against Rwanda.
The Red Devils fans are showing frustration with the transfer. Because they had seen Ait-Nouri as the perfect option to add to the defensive rebuild under new manager Ruben Amorim. Instead, it’s Pep Guardiola’s club who looks set to benefit from the £35 million deal, which could rise with add-ons.
Guardiola Building Early Ahead of Club World Cup
Manchester City are moving quickly in the summer transfer window. After sealing a deal for Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, Ait-Nouri is likely to be their second signing. Guardiola is laying the groundwork for what promises to be a packed schedule. That also includes their upcoming FIFA Club World Cup campaign this June.
The Spaniard is also eyeing more talent, including Lyon’s midfielder Rayan Cherki. Meanwhile, a move for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White appears less likely now. But, City’s intent to strengthen is clear.
Guardiola has also made changes in his backroom staff. That shows he means business after what many see as apoor season by City’s high standards. As for Utd, this failed pursuit shows the challenge they have to face in competing with their rivals both on and off the pitch.
