Man United and Brentford are expected to reach a compromise agreement over the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed he expects the Cameroon international to get his move to Old Trafford.

Mbeumo has been in outstanding form this season with his contributions proving vital for Thomas Frank’s side, while also attracting plenty of interest from elsewhere.

Last month, Football Insider reported that Man United, Newcastle and Arsenal are all keen to sign the Brentford star.

Since then, it has emerged that Mbeumo favours a move to Man United this summer, although that will not be a cheap deal to do for the Red Devils.

If he is to make the move to Old Trafford, then it looks as though the 25-year-old is expecting a big financial windfall for such a deal.

It has been reported that Mbeumo wants his wages to increase five-fold if he joins Man United, which would see him become one of their top earners with a salary of £250,000 per week.

Even so, Ruben Amorim‘s side have submitted a bid of £45million plus £10million in add-ons for the attacker, despite Brentford valuing him at over £60million [Sky Sports].

O’Rourke though, has explained that the two clubs will likely reach a compromise over a fee that will allow Mbeumo to get his move to Old Trafford.

“I’m sure there’ll be a compromise met somewhere in the middle, probably, to get this deal done. Brentford, are reluctantly willing to let Mbeumo go.” he told Football Insider.

“Obviously, no deal has been agreed as yet, but United have made that first offer, which is a bit below Brentford’s valuation of the player, £45million plus £10m in add-ons.

“I think Brentford will be looking closer, probably to the £60m-£65m mark for Mbeumo. But yeah, look, there’s a willingness from Man United to get this deal done, and Mbeumo wants to move to United, so I still fully expect the move to go through.”

Man United looking to manage finances amid pursuit of Brentford star

Much has been made of the measures that have been introduced by the Red Devils this season, with cost cutting being combined with extra financial demands on Man United fans.

Despite that, they have already spent big on one addition this summer with the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

There is therefore going to be pressure on the club over their spending, and reaching a compromise with Brentford over Mbeumo would at least help them to some extent with that.

Even so it seems clear this deal is not going to be cheap, and so the focus will surely have to turn to potential sales at Man United to help balance the books sooner rather than later.
