Leeds United have a busy summer ahead and will be aware of all the key dates that are coming up, some of which have not yet been made public.
That includes the official launch of the new home kit, which will have to be conducted by July 19, when Leeds play their first friendly against Manchester United in Stockholm, Sweden.
More friendlies are expected to be announced, with other dates already confirmed - Villarreal at Elland Road on August 2 and AC Milan in Dublin on August 9. Meanwhile, a few anniversaries are coming up.
July 4 marks two years since Daniel Farke put pen to paper as Leeds boss while July 17 denotes two years since the 49ers formally completed their takeover of the club. And the owners are expected to officially submit planning permission for the first phase of the Elland Road expansion by the end of that month.
There are several other dates which are more concrete that United will be mindful of - and one of them has already passed. Sunday, June 1, marked the first day of the transfer window. Here are other days of note to mark in the diary.
June 10-16 - Transfer window closure
The transfer window will briefly close in the next week due to the staging of the newly-expanded Club World Cup. The window closes at 7pm on Tuesday, June 10 before re-opening the following Monday on June 16.
The market actually opened early this year, with the initial 10-day period allowing clubs participating in the Club World Cup to strengthen their ranks before the tournament. This also applies for all clubs within the same national association - including all English teams given Chelsea and Manchester City’s involvement.
This has allowed Chelsea to buy Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, for example. In reality, during the transfer pause, clubs will still discuss potential moves, just amid the mere hurdle of not being able to officially register the transfer until June 16.
June 18 - Premier League fixtures released
Pretty self explanatory, this will allow United to find out when they play each team home and away. Fans will be able to learn who Leeds play on the opening and closing days, which club comes to Elland Road first and when the big-hitters come to town.
Dates against Manchester United, Chelsea and title winners Liverpool - when the champions of the top two tiers face off - will be eagerly anticipated. Long trips to Brighton and Bournemouth will also be confirmed, albeit some are subject to change due to cup progression or bad winter weather.
June 30 - PSR and contract deadlines
June 30 has become an increasingly significant date in recent years thanks to the Premier League’s crackdown on spending breaches. The start of July marks the beginning of the new three-year cycle and so clubs are required to be within limits of the current cycle by the end of June.
If breaches are found then clubs are in danger of sanctions, including points deductions. The Premier League recently filled a loophole between clubs moving divisions, meaning they can still get penalised - hence why Leicester City have been charged despite relegation.
Leeds, going the other way, are thought to be within parameters but will not wish to risk their position by spending too early. By now, supporters will be aware that United have a £61million three-year cap, the joint lowest in the Premier League this summer.
For comparison, Burnley have an £83m limit, and for the non-promoted clubs it is £105m. So Leeds will have to conduct shrewd business while maximising legal limits.
Meanwhile, June 30 typically marks the final day of player contracts. Junior Firpo and Sam Byram have yet to sign new deals and will officially become free agents if renewals are not signed by the start of July.
August 16 - Premier League begins
The first day of the season, with Leeds back in the top flight once more. There is always the possibility Leeds get selected for TV coverage and so August 16 might not actually signify their first match - but it will be that weekend.
September 1 - Deadline day
The summer window closes a day later than usual this year due to the final day of August falling on a Sunday. But instead of the usual 11pm deadline, the cut-off has been brought forward to 7pm.
United signed three players in the final week of the window last year, with Manor Solomon, Ao Tanaka and deadline day recruit Isaac Schmidt all coming in. Joshua Guilavogui - who has now been released - was signed as a free agent in October.
By their nature of being unattached to a contract, free agents can be signed after the window has closed. Farke has outlined his desire to get deals done earlier in the window but United’s progress will be dictated by their summer success so late moves can never be ruled out.
