Arsenal are gearing up for a massive summer spree in the transfer market as the Gunners are determined to go one better after bagging second place in the Premier League for the third consecutive year.

Co-chairman Josh Kroenke has signalled the club's intent to splash the cash in support of Mikel Arteta. "We plan to invest to get behind winning and doing better next season," declared Kroenke. "We're delighted we have our sporting director, Andrea [Berta], who will play an important role in this."

Reflecting on the desire to revamp their squad, he said: "He is part of a unified and strong team, supported by the board, who are crystal clear on exactly what we need to do and the way in which we want to do it. The right way. The Arsenal way."

The Gunners were reportedly on the cusp of sealing a deal for Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, but snagging a top-notch striker remains their number one mission. With all this buzz, here's the latest news and whispers from the Emirates....

The Athens-Macedonian News Agency reports Arsenal are deep in conversations with Genk for the young gun's signature and "very close" to securing his signature.

The rumour mill suggests they're inches away from shaking hands on a whopping £38m package for the midfielder who has shone for his country at such a tender age.

This mega-deal would loan Karetsas back to Genk for the 2025-26 season and smash the record fee for a Greek player, toppling Kostas Manolas' £30m switch to Napoli from Roma in 2019.

Williams update

Athletic Bilbao's president Jon Uriarte has given an update on Nico Williams' future, amidst Arsenal showing interest in the winger, reports the Mirror.

"We believe we have a winning and compelling project for everyone, and Nico is part of that project, just like many other players," Uriarte shared with Spanish media outlet El Correo.

"The project becomes easier if we retain our players - and I believe Nico and the rest of the squad have a very exciting year ahead."

Williams, 22, currently has a hefty £50m release clause in his contract, which is valid until 2027, but rumours are rife that Bilbao are trying to coax him into signing a fresh deal.

Tavares departure

Nuno Tavares has sealed a permanent switch to Lazio after spending the previous season on loan at the Serie A club.

Tavares was signed by Arsenal from Benfica for £8m back in 2021, but the defender couldn't cement his place in the starting line-up, making only 28 appearances across all competitions.

He was sent out on loan to Lazio last summer, where he clocked up 30 appearances in all competitions. Lazio have now forked out £6m, potentially rising to £7.5m, to secure Tavares, 25, permanently.
