Trevoh Chalobah ‘number one’ transfer target for Napoli — report

Trevoh Chalobah has had a rather impactful season, which has even earned him a debut call-up to the England national team, but all previous transfer ramblings have indicated that Chelsea still see him as expendable, and that he will be available for transfer this summer.

While there has been interest in his services in England, other clubs on the continent have also taken notice of his performances. One of those could be Antonio Conte’s Napoli, the Champions of Italy, who have made Chalobah their “numero uno” target to reinforce the backline, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Sam Beukema of Bologna and Federico Gatti of Juventus are the other centre backs on their wish-list, but Napoli would apparently prefer to sign the Chelsea man. While Chalobah never featured under Conte at Chelsea, he did make his first senior bench in the 2018 FA Cup final, Conte’s last game with the Blues. (Conte did coach and play Trevoh’s older brother, Nathaniel Chalobah.)

Meanwhile, Gazzetta dello Sport also report that Renato Veiga will be coming back to Chelsea ahead of the Club World Cup. Juventus were in talks to extend Veiga’s loan, at least until the end of the CWC, but those plans have been shelved after sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli got sacked. Juve are now looking at Daniele Rugani instead.
