Everton are looking to add more attacking firepower to their squad this summer, and have now identified a key target.

David Moyes wants to add both goals and creativity to his attacking roster, and has set his sights on Fiorentina loan forward Albert Gudmundsson.

Everton are still yet to decide what to do with Dominic Calvert-Lewin as they target centre-forwards, and they are also keen to help support their strikers with attackers who can play alongside them.

Gudmundsson would arrive with a lot of pedigree, as well as a rich footballing history within his family, and has now spoken about a potential move.

Gudmundsson wants Premier League move amid Everton interest

Gudmundsson has now admitted that he would like to move to the Premier League, which makes a lot of sense given the interest in him.

The 27-year-old spent the season on loan at Fiorentina, but could not produce the same level of output he managed at Genoa last year, where he scored 14 times in 35 Serie A games as a second striker.

Speaking to INews (6 June), who state Everton are tracking the attacker, Gudmundsson claimed that he would love to move to the Premier League.

“You are aware of the interest, I read the news just like every other football fan, because I am one. Some of it is total bulls***, some of it is true. But I don’t get my hopes up until anything is concrete,” he stated of the transfer links.

“The Premier League is definitely something that interests me. It is the best league in the world.

“Hopefully one day I will be playing there. It is just the tempo and the pace, how fast the game goes. All the stadiums are full, the fans are very close to the pitch and you can feel the atmosphere even watching the games on TV.

“Everyone can beat everyone at some point, it is so unpredictable, so that makes it an amazing league.”

Gudmundsson’s family connections to English football

The Iceland star is already making a name for himself in Serie A, but he comes from a family of four generations of footballers.

The attacker’s great-grandfather played for Arsenal in the 1940s, becoming the first Icelandic player to move abroad, and Arsenal’s second-ever foreign player.

As a result, the Genoa loanee admitted in the same interview that he grew up admiring the Premier League, but claimed that he wants to forge his own career path.

Gudmundsson scored six times in 16 Serie A starts in an injury hit campaign this season, but if he can stay fit, he would be a valuable asset for Moyes.

The Iceland star is a big-game player, netting goals against Lazio, AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus this season, and would add a lot of pedigree and versatility to the Everton side if he was to join.
