Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Nélson Semedo has less than a month left on his contract and his future at Molineux remains uncertain.
On May 28th, Wolves manager Vítor Pereira said the right-back knows the club want to retain him. He also stated the Premier League club have made a renewal offer to the 31-year-old.
Pereira made these comments a day after the Portugal international confirmed Benfica’s interest. He also said a decision on his future will be made with “head, and not my heart.”
The defender spent five years with the Eagles before leaving them for Barcelona in 2017. He left the La Liga winners to join the English club in 2020. A move back to Benfica will see him reunite with former Wolves manager Bruno Lage.
Semedo is currently with the national team and starred in their 2-1 win over Germany in the UEFA Nations League on Wednesday. He spoke to his country’s press and Record have relayed his comments.
Portugal will face Spain in the UEFA Nations League final on Sunday. The Wolves star says he will evaluate with his family the best option for his future after this weekend’s fixture.
“I’m focused on the national team, which is the most important thing. Then I’ll have time to eventually think and decide what’s best for me and my family,” he said.
