Saudi side add Aston Villa star to summer wish list – PSR necessitates huge offer

Aston Villa midfielder Amadou Onana is on Al-Hilal’s list of summer transfer targets, although it remains to be seen if a deal is ‘realistic’.

That’s [according to journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen](https://x.com/PJCalcoen/status/1930633037726851102), who reports the Saudi Arabian team have set their sights on the Aston Villa midfielder.

He reports Al-Hilal have put the 23-year-old on their summer wish list but whether a deal for him is realistic will have to be seen in the coming days and weeks.

Onana only joined Aston Villa in the last summer transfer window, in a €59.35m switch from Everton. He was a regular in his first season at Villa Park, with 34 appearances in all competitions to his name.

That’s seemingly been noticed by Al-Hilal, who have now added him to their list of summer transfer targets. They’re likely to be spending big again this summer after securing big transfers from Europe such as Joao Cancelo, Neymar, Ruben Neves and Aleksandar Mitrovic in the last two years.

Whether Aston Villa are willing to sell remains to be seen. They likely need a big sale this summer after missing out on Champions League football, to help their PSR situation.

In that respect, any offer would have to be huge to really help on PSR, given on a year’s worth of the transfer fee will have come off his book value.
