Ruben Amorim has reportedly been in contact with£60m Manchester United target, the stars may be aligning

Attacking additions are Manchester United’s focus right now with new hope emerging over Viktor Gyokeres.

Ruben Amorim needs to add goals to his Manchester United side – and plenty of them.

Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho all have talent and potential, but just couldn’t contribute goals and assists on a regular basis last season.

After 44 goals in 38 games, it is no surprise to see United placing a huge focus on attacking additions.

United have agreed to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and more signings could be on the way.

United’s first bid for Bryan Mbeumo has been snubbed, but the Brentford forward remains a top target and could follow Cunha to Old Trafford.

Cunha and Mbeumo would add major quality to United’s attacking ranks, and likely operate in the number 10 roles under Amorim.

United may still need to find another centre forward, though, with Rasmus Hojlund now wanted at Inter.

Liam Delap has joined Chelsea despite interest from United, leaving Amorim and co to look elsewhere.

Reports earlier on Thursday suggested Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres would be interested in joining United.

The Swede was a goal machine under Amorim at Sporting and could be tempted into joining United despite having no European football.

TalkSPORT now claim that Amorim has remained in contact with Gyokeres since leaving Sporting for United in November.

Amorim signed Gyokeres for Sporting in 2023 and the move proved to be a masterstroke, with the former Brighton and Hove Albion striker racking up 97 goals in 102 games.

Amorim still being in touch with Gyokeres may just be a case of a manager checking in on his former star, but it certainly speaks to a strong relationship between the pair.

Sporting are seeking £60million for Gyokeres, meaning United will surely need to sell players before launching a move.

That price tag presents a problem, but Gyokeres showing an interest in the move will inspire hope for United supporters.

Stars may be aligning for Manchester United to sign Viktor Gyokeres

A deal for Gyokeres seemed unlikely just a few weeks ago, and may still be a difficult one given the money required.

Gyokeres has attracted major interest, but a number of the clubs involved may be looking elsewhere.

Arsenal are focusing on Benjamin Sesko and appear to be prioritising a move for the RB Leipzig forward over Gyokeres.

Liverpool and Chelsea could be in the market for strikers, but reporter Sacha Tavolieri claims they want Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.

The suitors for Gyokeres appear to be looking elsewhere, which makes a move to United just seem a little more of a possibility.

The connection with Amorim has always put United in the conversation for Gyokeres, but recent reports leave us with increased hope of a deal.
