AC Milan keen to sign £30m Bayern star, face competition from Liverpool

Bayern Munich could look to offload Kim Min-jae in the summer transfer window, and several clubs are showing keen interest in him.

Premier League champions Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing the South Korean international, while Chelsea and Newcastle United are also keen.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (print edition, page 12), Serie A giants AC Milan are looking to sign a new central defender and have earmarked Min-jae as a potential option.

According to sources at Caught Offside, Liverpool are exploring a potential transfer move for the 28-year-old defender.

Arne Slot will need a new centre-back for the next season, with Joe Gomez and Jarrell Quansah’s future are far from certain. Likewise, Ibrahima Konate hasn’t signed a new deal, and he is being targeted by Real Madrid.

While no decision has been made on Kim’s future, there is a feeling that the player might welcome a move away from the Allianz Arena.

His asking price has dropped to £30m, and it is well within Liverpool’s budget. Min-jae was previously linked with a move to Manchester United, and it will be interesting to see if the Red Devils reignite their interest in him.

Serie A giants AC Milan are looking to add a quality defender to the ranks. For the past few seasons, they have conceded over 40 goals in a season, and as a result, the Rossoneri want an experienced defender this summer.

Min-jae spent his best years in Italy with Napoli, and he could be tempted to return to Serie A if AC Milan manage to agree deal with Bayern.

Kim Min-jae could leave Bayern

The sad reality is that Min-jae has not been able to reproduce the form he showed in Italy, and he is one of the bankable assets for the club.

Following the signning of Jonathan Tah, Bayern would be happy to sell him should they receive a handsome offer.

Min-jae can be a good squad player for Liverpool or AC Milan, but his fitness remains a concern.

The Bayern defender has been struggling with Achilles tendon problems since October 2024, and is feeling pressure on his right leg due to excessive strain.

Min-jae is unlikely to be with the team for the Club World Cup.
