Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has named Manchester City playmaker Jack Grealish as his most irritating opponent to play against. Unlike many of his Anfield teammates, Mac Allister is not currently on international duty with Argentina, having been granted additional rest following a long season with the Reds.

The midfielder missed Liverpool's final few games of the campaign due to a minor injury, but is expected to be fit and ready for pre-season next month. While on holiday in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, Mac Allister appeared on Paren La Mano, where he spoke about all things football, including his experiences facing certain Premier League opponents.

When asked which opponent he 'dislikes' facing the most, Mac Allister didn't hesitate in naming a member of the City squad. "Grealish," he replied.

"He makes you want to kick him. When you hit him, he stands up to you."

Liverpool got the better of City in both Premier League meetings last season, defeating their title rivals 2-0 both home and away en route to lifting the trophy. Grealish came on as a second-half substitute in the game at Anfield but remained an unused substitute in the reverse fixture a few months later.

Grealish is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, four years after his record-breaking move in 2021, which at the time was the most expensive transfer in British football history. The attacker played no part in City's final few matches of the season and he will, reportedly, be left out of the club's squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, as City look to offload the 29-year-old.

That said, Mac Allister may not be free of him, just yet. Everton, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa have all been linked with Grealish in recent weeks, meaning he could still be a Premier League opponent next season as Liverpool set their sights on English league title number 21.
