Arsenal have confirmed that Gabriel Magalhaes has signed a new contract with the club.
The Brazil international last extended his deal in 2022, committing until 2027, but the Gunners have moved to secure fresh terms that reflect his growing stature in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Now 27, Gabriel is one of the longest-serving players in the current first team, having joined from Lille during Arteta’s first summer in charge back in 2020. Since then, he’s racked up 210 appearances in all competitions, scoring 20 goals and contributing five assists — an impressive tally for a centre-back.
He featured 42 times last season before a hamstring injury in April required surgery and brought a premature end to his campaign.
In recent years, Gabriel has forged a formidable partnership with William Saliba at the heart of Arsenal’s defence, a pairing that has helped deliver the Premier League’s best defensive record in back-to-back seasons. At the other end of the pitch, he’s become a consistent threat from set pieces, finding the net five times last term.
Tying him down is another sign of the club’s intent to build around a core of established, high-performing players entering their prime.
Gabriel’s new deal runs until 2029, while discussions are ongoing about extending the contracts of other key players this summer.
