Earlier this week, Bournemouth emerged as key candidates to land Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumi.
Footmercato claimed the Cherries had made an offer for the Colombian and were waiting on a response from the Italian side.
An update has now emerged from Il Messaggero. They claim that Lucumi also interests AS Roma but their chase is being hindered by Bournemouth’s presence in the saga.
The Giallorossi have asked for information and while the newspaper does not confirm the Cherries’ bid, they do make it clear that the 26-year-old prefers staying in Serie A.
On top of that, they believe that Bournemouth and other potential suitors will have to pay a fee of €20m to land the Colombian international.
Footmercato had suggested that Andoni Iraola’s side had put forward €15m and everything now points to them having to pay more than that.
Roma see Lucumi as a key target to bolster their defence and he presents a more affordable opportunity than the other options on the shortlist. As a result, Bournemouth have competition and they have to move quickly.
