Rasmus Højlund gives approval to Manchester United exit after weeks of talks

On Thursday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Inter Milan chief executive Piero Ausilio has made initial contact with Manchester United for Rasmus Højlund.

They also reported the striker is open to moving to the Nerazzurri and could depart in the summer transfer window.

Gazzetta dello Sport cover the Denmark international again today and they highlight that Inter’s top-choice to improve their attack is Højlund. That is largely because of his suitable age, reasonable salary, and also because of his experience of playing in Serie A.

They claim Ausilio has been negotiating with the player and his entourage for weeks now and this has resulted in the forward giving approval to a move to the Giuseppe Meazza in the summer transfer window, although it’s made clear terms haven’t been finalised yet.

The belief is the contacts made with Manchester United were only the starting point for a move and more should follow. Inter want to close the deal on an initial loan deal with the option to buy Højlund on a permanent basis in the summer of 2026.

Some reports have stated that option to buy could turn into an obligation if certain levels are hit.
