Liverpool Shut Down Barcelona Move for Luis Diaz

Liverpool have made it clear to Barcelona that their star winger Luis Diaz is going nowhere.

Diaz Off the Market as Liverpool Block Barcelona Approach

Liverpool turned down Barcelona’s request to speak to Luis Diaz. The PL champions told them that the Colombian winger was not leaving. Diaz had a large impact on **Reds**‘ previous Premier League title run with 13 goals and seven assists. He joined them from Porto in January 2022 and is signed until 2027.

There has been some rumours due to emotional posts on social media accounts from Diaz and his partner. However, club officials including sporting director Richard Hughes has made it clear that he is not leaving. Manchester City and Saudi Arabian clubs have also shown interest in the 28-year-old. But, the Reds see him as part of their long-term plans under new manager Arne Slot.

Liverpool Focused on Rebuilding, Not Letting Stars Go

While Diaz has been declared not on sale, Liverpool are busy making bold moves in the June transfer market. They’ve already signed Dutch full-back Jeremie Frimpong for £29.5 million from Bayer Leverkusen. In addition, they are close to looking to make a club-record £109m deal for German midfielder Florian Wirtz.

Meanwhile, talks are also taking place to sign Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez for up to £50 million. Giorgi Mamardashvili will also be joining the team after a loan spell at Valencia. Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have both extended their stay.

There are some exits in terms of squad refresh. Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will be joining European giants Real Madrid. Caoimhin Kelleher is moving to Brentford this June. Although, the PL side will be keeping key attacking players. That means Luis Diaz will be part of the squad for the next season. With him off the table now, Barca and other clubs will need to look at other options.
