Liverpool are in for a very busy summer transfer window amid the latest rumours.
Liverpool have started the ball rolling with their summer overhaul, already confirming the departures of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid and Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentford.
The Reds are expected to make further sales throughout the window, with some departures more likely than others.
Luis Diaz is a man attracting plenty of attention at the moment as clubs continue to sniff around for a potential deal. Liverpool have made their stance clear on the Colombian star but he has admitted himself that he is not totally closed off when it comes to considering options for his future.
Luis Diaz ‘talking to other clubs’
During international duty with Los Cafeteros, Diaz spoke to the media about his current transfer situation. It’s no secret that multiple clubs are circling him at the moment but whether Liverpool actually sign off on a transfer is another story.
Speaking during a press conference ahead of Colombia’s match against Peru, Diaz said: “Obviously I am very happy at Liverpool. I have always said that. From the first day I arrived I was always well received.
“Now we are in contact with them because obviously we are speaking to clubs. This is normal because the transfer market is open and we are trying to see what is the best for us.
“As I said, I am only waiting to see if it can be done. If Liverpool offers me a good contract renewal or if I have to stay for the two years I have remaining with them, I will be happy and content. It all depends on them. I am here to decide and to see what is best for us and my future.”
Liverpool make decision on Luis Diaz future
Diaz is currently under contract at Anfield until 2027 but according to The Athletic, there is ‘little expectation’ of new terms being discussed. However, this does not mean Liverpool want to see him leave. In fact, the Reds ‘would be happy’ to see the winger play out the last two years on his current deal.
Paul Joyce has also reported that Liverpool are ‘not actively’ looking to part ways with Diaz. This hasn’t stopped clubs from trying their hands at a deal, though.
According to ESPN, the Reds have rejected an approach from Barcelona, who have been admiring Diaz for some time now. Saudi Arabian clubs are also showing interest in the 28-year-old. According to French journalist Sebastien Vidal, the Premier League champions have also already ‘rejected two £85 million’ bids from Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr.
Ben Jacobs has also reported that the latter are ‘set to approach’ Anfield again in attempt to sign Diaz. The Saudi Pro League club, currently home to Liverpool icon Sadio Mane, view the Colombian as one of their top targets for the summer.
With 17 goals scored during Liverpool’s latest season, it’s not hard to see why Diaz is a popular target around the world. Those around him also rate him highly and he made an immediate impact on the team when he signed in 2022.
Just two months after his arrival, Jurgen Klopp lauded him as a ‘top, world level player’ after an impressive performance against Benfica in the Champions League.
