Newcastle United 'met with' 24-year-old Brazilian forward last month with view to switch from…

**Late last night, local journalist Joel Bland penned a piece for NUFCBlog suggesting that Newcastle United had met with Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz.**

After teasing some big transfer news via X and trying to get the Toon Army to wait until this morning, Bland's piece went live on [NUFCBlog](https://www.nufcblog.co.uk/2025/06/05/exclusive-new-twist-in-striker-search-as-newcastle-eye-fulhams-rodrigo-muniz/) just before 11pm on Thursday.

Using a Portuguese sign-off in his original post, it had fans speculating on who the target could be, with Portuguese and Brazilian names being bandied about in speculation before Bland revealed the player in question to be Fulham's 24-year-old Brazilian forward, Rodrigo Muniz.

Needless to say, the story was met with mixed reactions on social media, with some already saying he'd be a waste of money while others were genuinely excited by the prospect.

Newcastle are keen on Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz but his price is putting fans off

One thing that everyone seemed to agree on, however, was that the reported £50 million fee was way too high.

The striker hit eight goals and one assist in the Premier League for Fulham last term, which isn't fantastic numbers for a striker, but Fulham weren't exactly lighting up the Premier League.

Muniz managed a tally of nine goals and one assist in the previous season, having played five fewer games, so while not yet prolific, he is at least consistent.

Rodrigo Muniz could be a solid backup option alongside Will Osula

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Joel Bland claims that Newcastle and two other unnamed Premier League clubs met with Muniz's people recently with a view to a move.

If the Magpies can shave a hefty chunk off that £50 million reported fee, then Muniz could be a good backup for Alexander Isak alongside Will Osula, and a few months working under Eddie Howe and Isak himself, who knows what kind of player he could turn into?

We understand it's not a name that's going to get people to line up for tickets, but there's a lot of potential there, and for the right price, he could be a solid addition. One to keep an eye on for sure.
