PSG striker has now been offered to Arsenal as Gunners eye England int’l as plan B

Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos has been put to Arsenal as a potential option this summer, according to the Independent.

However, the wage demands of the 23-year-old Portugal international are currently off-putting, and the Gunners are unlikely to sign him on those terms.

Arsenal are in the market for a new number 9 and are deciding who to sign between RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.

However, more names are now being considered as fall-back options, with the PSG star the latest to be linked with them.

A deal for the Slovenian or Swede could cost them over £75 million, and the Arsenal hierarchy have instead raised the possibility of going back in for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins having attempted to sign in January.

The North London club believe that the England international would be a relatively low price for a proven Premier League scorer.

Watkins will be 30 in December, but he could prove to be a decent short-term solution for the Gunners given his impressive record in the English top-flight.

He ended 2024-25 with 17 goals and 14 assists in 54 games after ending last season with 27 goals and 15 assists.

Watkins has 75 Premier League goals and 36 assists in 184 appearances, and it is clear to see why he remains a plan B for the Gunners should a move for others fall through.

Ramos could also be considered should he lower his demands, and his decent return of 18 goals and six assists in 41 games is commendable after 14 goals in 2023-24.

Arsenal have to get the best man in for the job given their lack of a clinical striker for a while, and sporting director Andrea Berta will be desperate to get this huge decision right as he knows it could make all the difference in the title race next season and going forward.
