Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has advised the Red Devils to offload Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and Andre Onana in the summer transfer window. Antony, who joined Real Betis on loan earlier this year, has been dubbed as selfish by Meulensteen.
The former Red Devils assistant coach thinks the Brazilian attacker is "not good enough." He told Tipman Tips (via The Mirror ):
"I won't bring Antony back because I've seen enough of him that he's not cut out for the club and not good enough. His performances are fuelled by his personality and are not for the good of the team, he's selfish."
Meulensteen had a similar opinion of Alejandro Garnacho. The former coach claimed that the Argentine attacker has attitude issues, which have been reflected in his performance and lack of consistency.
Meulensteen thinks Garnacho won't live up to his potential at Old Trafford and Manchester United should cut their losses by offloading him. He added:
"Garnacho is the same as Antony. Yes, he's a young boy but, personality-wise, some things are not right with him and he's bad for the club. That shows in his performances and lack of consistency."
"He's a young player who has good value to him, so if they were to get offered any sort of money, they should cut their losses, because he isn't going to live up to his potential at Old Trafford and that can free up some money to spend elsewhere."
The Dutch tactician also opined on Andre Onana and advised Ruben Amorim to find a replacement for the former Inter Milan custodian.
Meulensteen stated that Manchester United have had successful goalkeepers in the past, and Onana has failed to fit the criteria. He said:
"It's vital they look to replace Onana. If you look at United's history, they started building a successful team through the goalkeeper, with Peter Schmeichel, Edwin van der Sar and David De Gea. They must bring confidence to the defence as that galvanises the whole backline."
Alejandro Garnacho is linked with Serie A champions Napoli, while Andre Onana has garnered the interest of Saudi Arabian clubs. Antony is also on the transfer radar of Italian clubs.
Inter Milan interested in signing Manchester United attacker: Reports
Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United attacker Rasmus Hojlund in the summer transfer window. According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (via FCInterNews), the Champions League runner-ups are keen to strengthen their attack ahead of next season.
Nerazzurri have signed Cristian Chivu as their new boss, while Simone Inzaghi has joined Al-Hilal. Under the new manager, the Serie A giants are set to make reinforcements in the frontline. They view Hojlund as a suitable candidate because the Dane has experience playing in Italy.
Hojlund played for Atalanta in the 2022-23 season, bagging 10 goals and four assists in 34 appearances. Apart from the Danish attacker, Inter Milan also have Parma forward Ange-Yoan Bonny on their transfer radar.
