According to El Chiringuito's Nico Rodriguez, Chelsea want to sign Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr teammate Aymeric Laporte. The Blues are set to have a busy transfer window as they hope to prepare for the UEFA Champions League next season.
Laporte is no stranger to English football, with the Spaniard enjoying a successful stint with Manchester City between 2018 and 2023 after he completed a €65 million move from Athletic Club. The Al-Nassr defender scored 12 times and provided four assists in 180 games to help the Manchester-based side to six EPL titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups, and one UEFA Champions League.
Despite his pedigree, Laporte has failed to claim any silverware with Al-Nassr despite playing in a star-studded side alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. His nine goals and one assist in 69 games for the Riyadh-based side since his €27.5 million move have not been enough to help the Saudi Pro-League giants to any major titles to date.
Chelsea will hope to negotiate a good deal for the 31-year-old defender, who has just one year left on his club's contract.
Chelsea legend urges club to sign Cristiano Ronaldo
Chelsea legend John Obi-Mikel has urged the club to sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. The legendary Portuguese forward could be available on a free transfer as his contract with Al-Nassr is set to expire this summer.
In a recent discussion with TalkSPORT DRIVE, the Nigerian urged his former club to sign the legendary forward for the quality he would bring to the team, saying:
"Ronaldo is an amazing player. He's an all-time goal scorer so it would be great to see him also participate in this tournament. Do we need him at Chelsea? Of course we do. We need a number nine, but I think everybody knows the number nine that I want us to get and we're not getting him."
Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest footballers in sports history and the most prolific player ever to play the sport at international and club levels. At 40, the legendary forward enjoyed a fantastic season with Al-Nassr, scoring 35 goals and providing four assists in 41 games across competitions in what could be his final season in Saudi Arabia.

A Business Administration graduate with a professional experience of 10 years, one of his earliest childhood memories is watching Calabar Rovers play at the U.J. Esuene Stadium with his father, with whom, he connects with, discussing the beautiful game.
Patrick’s favorite team is Manchester United for their unparallelled legacy and success in the game. He is a big admirer of Michael Carrick and his ‘smooth’ style of play back in the days. His favorite manager is Jose Mourinho, who according to him, brought a ‘swagger’ to football with his unique managerial style. Robin van Persie’s title-winning volley against Aston Villa for the 2013 PL triumph is etched in his memory forever.
Patrick always uses trusted outlets that produce accurate, balanced and fair information, and which present multiple point of views. He believes in reporting in a holistic manner for the readers’ benefit. If he could change a football rule, he would increase the number of substitutions allowed due to the high number of games played these days, to reduce injuries and so that youngsters get to show their talent as well.
When not covering football, Patrick loves reading, writing poems and short stories, and spend time with his dog Lana.
